Today, I was inspired by local Portland, Oregon designed brands. If you’re going to go somewhere, it’s always cool to see what’s made locally. Local designers will instantly give you a better sense of the style of the city, history and why not bring a little present home for yourself (or someone else, I guess). I chose three local Portland collections to share with you- Kate Towers, Gretchen Jones and Elizabeth Dye (above from left to right). Kate Towers’ design have a romantic gypsy vibe. Her designs are insane. There’s such a Victorian, hand-crafted feel to each custom piece. Next up is Gretchen Jones. Gretchen is actually based in NY now, but I still wanted to share her collection. She’s originally from Portland and was on Project Runway. Her collection is clearly rooted from the Portland boho-chic style and continues to stay true to her roots. Lastly, check out Elizabeth Dye’s gorgeously crafted wedding gowns. I’ve always dreamed of designing a wedding dress and having it custom made. She was inspired to create custom dresses that women could afford and still feel beautiful in- mission accomplished. More of each of these collections below and make sure to support their designs. More from Portland tomorrow.
