The Written Runway

Today, I was inspired by my weekend trip to Palm Springs.  I’m excited for a girls weekend poolside with bikinis and cocktails (cheers!).  Let me just start out with “holy-bandeau-madness” for bikinis this season.  Everything is a bandeau which kind of made me want to boycott it in my post, except they’re so cute.  Each of these are trending and can flatter different body types.  If you’re busty, a triangle top (above on left) is your best friend.  The key to remember is that you need an adjustable top that can slide to cover (or not) the right amount of chest.  I know this is going to sound crazy, but if you’re self concious of your hips, a tie-side bottom will look best (above on left).  The ties are adjustable and will also make your legs appear longer.  The more coverage on the hips, the wider you’ll appear.  For those with a petite figure a bandeau is the style for you (lucky you they’re everywhere).  To elongate your body, these adjustable straps (above, second in from left) will lengthen your neckline and the ruffle will give you some volume in the bust.  If you have a straighter figure, minimal curves of any sort, think thick (above, third in from left).  This bandeau with a ruffle and bra-like cups will give you an instant girly touch.  For bottoms, the thicker sides will give you the illusion of more curvy hips.  Lastly, nobody said you can’t be covered and still look sexy.  A one piece (above on right), is great for covering and exposing all the right places.  To create the illusion of a smaller stomach, this twisting and deep-v neckline draws the eyes in.  This gives your silhouette an hourglass look.  A one piece is also a great way to cover stretch marks (dang them) and scars.  Either way, bikini up and enjoy your weekend!  Happy Friday.
